People Matter

The theme of the cross over service in my church, The Father's House Church was 'People Matter' and as the preacher kept on preaching, it dawned on me that indeed people matter. Man was not created to live as though he is the only one existing instead man was created to relate with other people and recreate the world through the joy each individual brings.

The world has succeeded in making man think that he lives for himself and whatever he does is of no significance to the people around him. He has been so brainwashed into thinking that life is all about 'me' and 'me alone'. As an individual, you matter to yourself and you are the fist priority of yourself but that does not mean that other people don't count.

THE TALE OF FATIMA #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS!!!!

9:45 PM LIGHTS OUT!!!!! Like it is in all boarding schools, we were instructed to go to bed. Aminat and I stood up sluggishly and dragged our tired feet to the hostel.

10:15 PM Lights out, but not totally, because Maria, the Christian girl from Ashigashiya the neighbouring village, who is now schooling in Chibok in other to write her exams, is still cooking; a practice she says is a norm in her school. I had a wary smile on my face, not because she was cooking, but because my Literature teacher gave me her word that I will recite my poem, composed by myself, in front of the class. Haaa, tomorrow is just by the corner, and it promises to be a very

Mr Waff: Wow, I had a very lovely time as a child because I am my dad’s favourite so I get all the care and attention from my parents and siblings and that made me feel special.

TWG: What is your most memorable experience?
Mr Waff: My most memorable experience was when I gained admission into the university and I was given the course I applied for which is Theatre Arts. I have always loved the arts and having to study theatre arts is just wow for me because I love creativity.

TWG: What is your definition of creativity?
Mr Waff: Simply put, creativity is the use of ones imagination to bring something original out of the usual.

TWG: Hmmm..What state are you from?
Mr Waff: I am from Delta State.

TWG: What is the most spectacular thing about people from Delta state?
Mr Waff: People from Delta state are funny and friendly. You can tell from the number of comedians the state has produced. We have the likes of Ali Baba (king of comedy) I go die,Gordons and so on. If you want to have a healthy and humorous lifestyle, you need to have them as friends. Trust me it pays.

TWG: Tell me about your company.
Mr Waff: Mr Waff Gallery is a home of arts and entertainment. We direct movies, musical videos, train actors, record artist’s songs, stage plays, produce art works lik sculptures, painting, aquariums etc. Like us on our Facebook page Mr Waff Gallery to know more.

TWG: Wow, that sounds like a whole lot of work! How do you get your funds and source for artiste?
Mr Waff: As for how we source for artiste; For films, we organize auditions and pick the best while for music, we organize music competitions tittled 'Rap Attack' or 'Rep Your Hood' every now and then. As a matter of fact, our next edition is coming to Abuja. You never know, it might just be in your area. The winners get a recording deal with us at our studio CITI MEDIA. As for funds, we use our hard earned money to make things happen because we believe in what we do. I will also like to use this opportunity to say our doors are open to sponsors who want to be part of what we are doing.

TWG: Where is Mr Waff Gallery located?
Mr Waff: 180, Dutse- Diwaki Road, Abuja. It is inside Citi building. Or call 08052083225.

TWG: How do you cope with competitors?
Mr Waff: I just remain focused on what I do because I work with a master mind.

TWG: How were you able to establish the company considering the harsh economic realities in the country? Tell me your story.
Mr Waff: I had the vision of the company way back in my university days, I started writing all I wanted to do in my diary not considering the fact that at that time I didn’t have money to make it happen. I just believed that all I needed to do was to write it down, for the money to execute it will surely come. It takes faith and prayers. For me, success and failure is in the heart if you believe you can, then you can. So there are no limitations with me. I remember those days in Uniabuja, I started making awards for various departments and before I could say jack, I was known as the award maker in school.

TWG: How old is your company and what is the selling point of the company?
Mr Waff: Officially, it is two years old and unofficially, it is five years old. The selling point is our fast rising profile. We are working on something big underground with my friend in the Uk, Mr Kast. We are keeping our fingers crossed, I will let the cat out of the bag in due time.

TWG: Thank you for your time. God bless you.
Mr Waff:God bless you too.

IGBALAJOBI OLUMUYIWA! Happy Birthday!!!

What better way is there to celebrate ones life than having an interview with a groundbreaking, impact making blog? Okay, enough has been said already about the blog, let's get straight to the point. I celebrate this man for so many reasons. One, he is a Nigerian in love with Nigeria and positively representing Nigeria outside the shores of Nigeria. Two, he is one of those few persons you see that makes you believe that we are indeed a generation of winners set to make right what those before us did wrong. Three, he has always been expressive about his views and opinions about Nigeria. Join me as I celebrate our very own, IGBALAJOBI OLUMUYIWA AYOKUNLE.

TWG: Good morning sir.
Kunle: Ahaaa, Sir bawo(why sir)? Nooo.

TWG: Hahahahhaha…Okay, good evening!
Kunle: Yes, good morning from South Korea.

TWG: Can we meet you? Who exactly is Kunle?
Kunle: Thank you. My name is Igbalajobi Olumuyiwa Ayokunle. I hail from Ekiti State Nigeria. I am currently, on Korea Government Graduate Scholarship in Daejeon University South Korea, M.Sc in Microbiology and Biotech in view. I am the only male out of three females though one is late and the last man standing in the house.

TWG: Wow, quite impressive! Character-wise, how would you describe yourself?
Kunle: I think I am calm, I value my name and integrity, I will never trade it for any amount, that actually keeps me going. Though, a lot of people actually perceive me as a strict and no-nonsense traditional Ekiti man.

TWG: There is a general belief that people from Ekiti State, Nigeria are very stubborn. How true is that?
Kunle: Well, I wouldn’t subscribe to that but it all depends on the context. There is a clear difference between being stubborn and disciplined/ goal getter. From the likes of Prof Jide Osuntokun, Prof Oluwasanmi, Prof Dipo Kolawole, Late Sam Aluko and a host of other renowned academia and illustrious sons and daughters of Ekiti, I must confess that they could be referred to as stubborn. As enshrined in the Ekiti genetic constituents but apparently they are huge successes and templates to emulate. Perhaps, stubborn on the platform that Ekiti people will never allow to be cheated? Yes, we can be that stubborn.

TWG: I can see that you are vehemently in support of that assertion. Why Microbiology?
Kunle: Microbiology is just a product of circumstance that I love to revolve around. The first dream I ever had was to become an Economist but parental influence crept in so I had no choice than to study sciences. It was really hard to get familiarized with the precursors of sciences, but eventually today, it’s a success story though a side of me belongs to media and communications and most of my friends keep asking ‘why not study mass communications or political science?’. Anyway, I enjoy Microbiology though with a sigh (laughs).

TWG: Seriously, I think I need to ask you…Why don’t you pursue your ‘real’ dream?
Kunle: I lately discovered a distinct constituent of myself that fell in line with being able to multitask. I spend an average of 16 hours on the internet per day thanks to fast internet in South Korea. It enables me to feature in a lot of things. And you must know that microbes rule the world. Microbes maketh man, so no big regrets. However, if I am chanced again, I will possibly be an economist or perhaps a political scientist.

TWG: How does microbiology affect or influence our world?
Kunle: (laughs) Microbiology is a broad course which entails microbes such as bacteria, fungi, viruses amongst others. Microbes are present everywhere and they play important roles in the ecosystem and our health that are both advantageous and otherwise. In a layman’s view, the yogurt you drink, the bread you eat, the ogi (pap) you drink all contains lactobateria and saccharomycetes. From the scientific point of view, we are nothing without microbes because they also play important roles in the digestion and defense of the bodyline when they are in precise state. Few disadvantages; HIV, EBOLA, SARS are also important microbes of concern. So you see, Microbiology is wide with various aspects such as medical, industrial, pharmaceutical even in Agriculture.

TWG: How were you able to get the scholarship?
Kunle: Actually, I got to know about the Korean Government scholarship through a senior colleague of mine back then in the university. It was all trials for me putting in for the Korea and Chinese government scholarships at the same time and to my dismay but to the glory of God I had both on the platform of merit.

TWG: What do you asides microbiology?
Kunle: Well, I use to blog and like I mentioned earlier, I multitask. I sing in church (laughs) and I admin lots of groups on social media part of which are Nigerian Society for Microbiology group, UNAD MCB Alumni Group, Association of Nigerian Students in South Korea on Facebook. I also play soccer, read novels, though it’s been a while. In general, I am multidimensional and that makes me happy.

TWG: Do you have more than 24 hours to spend per day? Because I am beginning to think you have 50 hours (laughs).
Kunle: I really wish I did sometimes. Well, I sleep for 4 - 5 hours daily.

TWG: What is your best food?
Kunle: Pounded yam. I am an Ekiti man to the core. Give me bolus food, I will in turn bless you hahahha.

TWG: What do you miss most about Nigeria?
Kunle: I miss my mum’s taste. But don’t be surprised that I cook Nigerian foods here because most of my Korean friends find me strange. I do not eat Korean food and that justifies my participation as the first black in my school’s international student food competition. I cook so well and I think I inherited that from my mum. Practically, I miss the way we pound yam together.

TWG: I am sure mum would be glad to read this! Would you like to be a lecturer?
Kunle: Sure, I see myself soon in the classroom as a lecturer.

TWG: Tell us about your love life
Kunle: My love life? Anyway, it’s fun with lots of moments good, bad and the ugly. Pressure from ladies but above all, I am standing. I am single but not searching. Hahhaha.

TWG: What’s your take on Ekiti girls? Any perception?
Kunle: From my view there are good ones I met as good friends and also regrettable ones. I believe Ekiti girls are pretty cool with few exceptions which I wouldn’t like to talk about.

TWG: Okay, any comment as regards the forthcoming elections to be held in Nigeria?
Kunle: For me as a person, if I am chanced to vote trust me, I will vote for ideology and realizable blueprints. All I read lately are about accusations and counter accusations. The present government in her bid tried the best however the current state of insecurity, corruption, unemployment and even Naira to dollar rate, really calls for holistic approach. Questions borders on;
Can we trust them for another four years?
Are we really ready for change?
Can we trust the oppositions with our hopes?
The electorate should analyze these focal points especially now that the general elections are some weeks away.

TWG: What would you advise unemployed Nigerian graduates to do considering the limited jobs available?
Kunle: Well, all over the world, employment is a serious menace. However, being creative rules the world. Still, a good governmental policy is essential even to propagate such talents. That is why even as youths we must get it right and say NO to a mortgaged future. Our leaders must be responsible and accountable.

TWG: Any word of advice for TWG Blogspot?
Kunle: Honestly, I take solace in the blog since inception.  Credible news and unbiased posts. A few blogs like TWG exist when it comes to sincerity and real representation. Focus is the most important thing and I presume TWG wouldn’t relent in that.

TWG: From the cradle of THE WINNING GENERATION BLOGSPOT, we say a big thank you! We sincerely appreciate your time and we wish you a HAPPY, PROSPEROUS BIRTHDAY!!! As you begin a new year, we pray God to give you more wisdom and all that you need to make a difference!
Kunle: Thank you so much! Keep shining.

ADEKUNLE OLUWABUSAYOMI; C.E.O KODEDKRATIONZ

Photography is life! Yes, I said it... I love to watch pictures but I have someone who loves to snap pictures. It gives him undiluted satisfaction and with it, he holds time in his hands. Do you know that, that is what happens when you snap a picture? Normally time is fleeting but when you snap a picture, you capture time, you practically hold time hostage because years down the line the pictures remind you of the event.
That brings me to my interviewee for the day. Busayo is his name. He is yet to snap me though but with his passion for photography he has captured my attention! The interview went thus;
What was your childhood like?
Well, it was fun, exciting but there was nothing too wow about it. Just like other average kids.
How many siblings do you have?
Three
Who are you closer to, dad or mum?
Mum.
What do you like doing most?
Well, when I am not handling my camera, I rather be alone sleeping or thinking (strategizing) about my passion.
What exactly is your passion?
Camera/ photography.
What informed your passion into photography?
Well, I can't really pin it down to anything.Let's just say the fun of exploring and having to press the shutter.
What is your brand name?
KODEDKRATIONZ
I heard you are into fashion is that true?
(Smiles) Yes, you must have heard right. Fashion is just one of those other things I like to do and would like to invest into maybe later in life.
Okay, that means you are not into it professionally?
Hmmmm, it depends on your definition of professionally.
Hahahhahaha, what is your philosophy about life?
Treat people right and you would get in return right treatment from others.
Tell us about your love life.
Hmmm. Love life, I guess we can set that aside for a later time or something.
How do you think the Nigerian Government can help young entrepreneurs?
For me, I have not for once depended on what the government can do for me, rather I think about what I can do for myself. Having said that, I believe Nigerian youths are not lazy people and they are always willing to get something done for themselves . But if the government can make loans and grants available and more easily accessible for people it will go a long way.
Give a word of encouragement to young entrepreneurs like yourself.
Well my word for them is that they should remain passionate about their dreams.
And follow it to the end irrespective of circumstances right?
Yes because that is the spirit of success.
What are your plans for the next five years?
Basically to intensify growing my customer base.
Any word for The Winning Generation Blogspot?
Consistency is key, just be consistent.
Thank you so much for your time!
My pleasure! You are welcome.

We have come to the end of today's interview on our segment YPMAD which means Young People Making A Difference. Just like he said, don't wait for what the Government will do for you, your life is right in your hands, dare to make a difference and remember, CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS!

MAGNUS ONYEIMERE; ASTONISHING TECH LTD

The best part of this blog is the fact that it celebrates creativity and excellence. I personally believe that so many people perform below average because they don’t have anybody to encourage them and they therefore feel that they are not doing well. It is very frustrating when you are trying to make a difference in this world and yet it seems as if the world is so preoccupied with other stuffs that it can hardly notice your shinning light. I love little shinning lights and my greatest joy is to see them grow and magnified into lights so great that they impact the entire universe.

Magnus Onyeimere, the CEO of Astonishing Tech Ltd is one of those lights taking the world by surprise, so right now, I am his biblical John the Baptist proclaiming his greatness. Astonishing Tech Ltd is a registered company under the Corporate Affairs Commission and it provides the creative and innovative solutions for your infrastructural needs. Dear Ayo, I just want to celebrate you!

I have always wanted to do this and I think now is the best time to do this. So many people have been complementing this blog and I cannot go on without appreciating my very good friend and Graphic Designer.  I notice that we humans have a character flaw and that is the fact that we don’t appreciate people until they die. I know this good friend of mine still has some 70 years to go at least but I wouldn’t wait till then before I celebrate him. More so, one of the visions of this blog is to celebrate young talented people who have chosen to take the rough path of true success. There are quite a lot of things that I have learnt about him but first I would like to introduce him.

BAMISAYE AYODELE GIDEON, the current force behind DEON GRAPHICS is a graduate of University of Abuja where he studied Linguistics. He is currently pioneering a force in the media and communication industry set to take over the nation and the world at large. He hates mediocrity and he loves creativity (No wonder he loves TWG BlogSpot!)
Things I have learnt about him….
1.Be prepared always. Don’t wait till when an opportunity comes before you start to prepare. Success comes to those who are prepared to go the extra mile even when there is no need to. There is always a need for the extra oil and it is only in the place of preparation that excellence is achieved.

2.Do everything you can to harness your skills. Practice in front of the mirror if you want to be a Public Speaker or Actor. Write as much as you can if you want to be a writer, makeup as much as you can and start with your face if you want to be a makeup artiste with an exquisite touch. Whatever your life purpose is, harness your skills by engaging it periodically and consistently. The easiest way to harness your skills is to take opportunities when you see them, while a large part of it might be free and voluntary at the initial stage, don’t give up because one day it would pay off.

3.Broaden your horizon. Whatever it is you are doing, don’t limit yourself. Ayo for instance started out by learning the basics of graphic designing. But now he has gone beyond creating simply logos and banner into creating sophisticated logos and web banners, he is into graphic consultancy, and he equally serves as an administrator for blogs and websites. The good thing about him is the fact that he is still breaking new grounds and I strongly believe that the big God would always continue to give him insights and clarity.

4.Have a teachable spirit. Be ready to learn. Be open minded. Be inquisitive about your purpose. When you get the vision, just like the scripture says, “write the vision, make it plain”. When you have an idea, pursue it. Even if you are starting small, don’t bother because the rock gives way to the persistence and diligence of the water therefore be diligent and persistent.  You can be all you want to be. Let your creativity be inspired by Divinity. Deon Graphics, once again I personally celebrate you.
P.S: If you would like to contact him, send him a message via his Facebook account BAMISAYE AYODEJI

THE KOREAN ENVIRONMENT; MY NIGERIAN IDENTITY

I was so elated when i got the following piece with an attachment and I instantly desired to share it! But before I share it I have some few things to say:

1.You need to recognise your identity.

2.Be proud of who you are and where you come from.

3.There is no place like home.

4.No body can view Nigeria better than how you view it.

5.The way you promote yourself/country is the way others would promote you.

6.You are a representative/ambassador of your country, don't dent the image of the country.

7.The image of Nigeria is bad don't make it worse instead, strive to bring the best out of it.

8.For Nigerians in diaspora, let your lives be examples of the positive state of the country.

On this note, I share the piece sent to me;

Being the only Nigerian and black in Daejeon University isn’t an excuse.Ekiti-Born Msc Student of Daejeon University S/Korea Celebrates Nigeria Independence in grand-cultural style at the just concluded International students food festival of the University. Featured along side other countries such as Japan,China,Cambodia,Indonesia,Russia to mention a few.  I present to you photopixs from Skorea showcasing Nigeria traditional food and dance performance by an illustrious son of Ekiti State Igbalajobi Olumuyiwa Ayokunle currently on Korean Government Graduate scholarship program with major in Microbiology and Biotechnology at Daejeon University Skorea. THE BROADCAST MESSAGE

Today I want to talk about meaningful broadcast messages. A long while before now, when people send me broadcast messages telling me to vote for something related to them or their profession, I just ignore it in fact, I don't even bother to read it until one day when it was my turn to send the broadcast message, I was the one at the other end of the line canvassing for votes!

It happened this way, my best friend #Takon Blessing Ayomide got into a singing competition and she needed people to like her page on Facebook in other to win, so I automatically became her campaign manager. I called everyone I knew on her behalf, sent text messages and of course, broadcast messages stating the Web link and every other necessary information. It was at this point I realised how it felt being at the other end of the line! Praying seriously and begging people to vote! I realised how disappointing and infuriating it is watching people who care about you not caring about what you care for.

A simply vote can make the person emerge as the winner of the competition! It really doesn't cost you anything! I have with me, two persons that I personally want to promote. Toci, a makeup artiste and Juliana a singer. These people are good women engaged in entrepreneurship.  They deserve to win, they deserve to be heard.Join me as I 'like' them on Facebook, Instagram and also vote for them on the Web links provided. Please follow the links provided below and do as they say. Remember, everything that goes around, surely comes around.

Tochi says: Please like and tag my entry (the picture below). I need your votes to win, my quest for more knowledge in makeup artistry wouldn't let me stop here. I want to serve you better. Here is the link http://woobox.com/gemukx/vote/for/4754426. My entry is tagged Adorable Eve.Please like my picture on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  Please vote everyday.

Juliana says: Hello everyone, Please vote for Juliana for MEGA Award -
