DEFINE YOUR SHIP!

Chai!!!!!! I hate this story!

These were the words that proceeded from my mouth the moment I heard the horrible story. I won't be able to narrate the whole story but I will give you the highlights. To the guy, they have being just 'friends with benefits' but to the girl, he was her everything; husband to be, confidant, helper, sex partner, lover, everything. For 7 years, she shunned other guys saying that she is in a serious relationship heading for marriage only that the guy is yet to ask her out. After a long wait, the guy gives her a wedding invitation inviting her to be a special guest at his wedding to another woman because she has being a great friend, best friend to be precise! Well, she probably headed to the psychiatric hospital after the incidence or she became a shadow of herself.
 This example is one of the billions of similar occurrences that happen in the world yet we don't seem to learn from the mistakes of others till we become victims ourselves. Before another person becomes a victim due to ignorance I have taken it upon myself to enlighten my distinguished readers on the subject I have titled 'Define your SHIP'.

Everyone has a ship, by ship I mean friendship or relationship. Stop trying to deceive yourselves.  For every opposite sex you meet you need to clearly define your ship. Ask yourselves sincere questions like 'are we just friends?' 'Is there any prospect of us getting married?' And if you guys are very close, ask yourselves 'are we in a relationship,  courtship', or we are just friends with benefit?
Girls, don't let any guy take monopoly of your love life if  he doesn't have intentions of 'taking you to mama'. Some guys claim to be just friends yet you cook for him, you wash him clothes, you perform every wifely activity and to crown it all, you have sex with him. Haba!  Na so you like attention reach?  Give yourself the love and respect you need and deserve. A man who truly loves you would be willing to get committed with you. If he sees you as just friends mehn that is just what you are...A FRIEND! Nothing attached, every other thing you give him is just like MTN bonus  you chose to give him out of your 'benevolence'.

This piece is not restricted to girls. Guys wake up! A woman that just hangs around you enjoying your undiluted attention yet doesn't want to stay committed to you isn't worthy of your attention.  Don't think you are in a relationship until you confirm it from the other person or else, brother you are ON YOUR OWN! I really pray this piece has been helpful. Please define your friendship/relationship.  It doesn't make you cheap, instead it shows that you don't have time to waste on 'friends with benefit' and your love life is soo important that nobody is permitted to have monopoly over it without a sincere intention of taking you to the altar.
